In its latest definition coined in 1992, femicide is described as the misogynistic killing of women by men. To this day, every 10 minutes a woman loses their life at the hands of their family or partner and the numbers show no signs of going down.

Insight: There is ample data around this violent crime proving that it is a crisis. But because it is difficult to share with a larger population in its current form most people are unable to understand the gravity of the issue.

Idea: We use design to visualize the story of every woman who have lost their lives to femicide.

Execution: Together with Femplak we analyze data from the 1990, the year when Femicide’s current definition was coined till date and visualizes the number of killings in relation to the population of a particular region. Such in 32 years, the number of victims of femicide is equal to the population of the German City of Munich.
